Hannover Airport is the ninth largest airport in Germany, handling around 4.5m passengers a year. Airlines using the airport include British Airways, Eurowings, Lufthansa and KLM.

The airport is located about 11km (7 miles) north of the centre of Hannover, the capital city of the Federal State of Lower Saxony. There is an S-Bahn (light railway) station at the airport, from where the S5 runs to the city centre in around 17 minutes. It runs every 30 minutes, 22 hours a day. 

If you're going straight to a game at the Niedersachsenstadion, you can, for example, take the S8 and S51 via Bismarckstrasse and be at Hannover-Linden/Fischerhof in 26 minutes. From there it's a 15-minute walk to the ground. Other routes ending up the 100 or 200 bus can get you closer to the stadium, namely to the Robert-Enke-Strasse bus stop, which is right outside the ground.

In terms of fares, you're covered for the journey from the airport to a Hannover 96 game at the Niedersachsenstadion (from 3 hours before kick-off until 5am next morning) if you have a match ticket. You're also, of course, covered for that trip and travelling further afield if you're on an extended break and are using an Interrail / Eurail pass, or, if you don't mind using slower regional trains, have a Deutschlandticket.
