Bavaria (capital city: Munich) is the biggest federal state in Germany. It covers an area almost twice the size of Switzerland and has a population nearly three times that of Scotland. From the north west to the south east of the state is over 300 miles.
And yet, you can travel around it to your heart's content for a full day from just €13.80.
You'd do that by buying a Group Bavaria Day Ticket
The Bavaria Day Ticket is valid from 09:00 (00:00 at weekends) until 03:00 next day. You can use it for travel on all regional trains, all buses, trams, underground and S-Bahn (suburban overground) services (but NOT on long-distance express trains). For one person it costs €29 a day. You can also buy it for a group of up to 5 people. The cost for a group of 5 is €69, equating to €13.80 each.
By comparison, at time of writing the standard single fare one way between Augsburg and Munich is €18.70, between Regensburg and Munich €36.60 and between Nuremberg and Munich €31.90.
So, if you're going to be in Bavaria during your trip and using public transport for 2 or 3 days, it's well worth taking a look at the Bavaria Day Ticket.
