Leipzig/Halle Airport is located 12 miles northwest of Leipzig with good transport connections via the railway lines and Autobahn, over which planes taxi. 

The journey from the station beneath the terminal to Leipzig main station (Hauptbahnhof / Hbf) takes just 12-16 minutes by S-Bahn (metro train), e.g., on the S5 or S5X heading for Zwickau Hbf. If you're heading straight to Leipzig Stadium, the journey will take you more like half an hour via S-Bahn and tram, e.g., on the S5 or S5X as above to Leipzig main station and then, for example, tram 7 heading for Böhlitz-Ehrenberg and gettig off at Sportforum Süd. If you have a national/international rail pass such as Interrail or the Deutschlandticket, you're covered in terms of the aiport-to-station fare. The local Leipzig Card, however, does NOT cover travel to or from the airport. It provides free 1- or 3-day travel on local public transport within Leipzig (plus discounts to many attractions), but the airport journey is not included.
