Getting there from the city centre
The club is very keen on fans travelling to and from the stadium in an eco-friendly way. Around the stadium there are, for instance, therefore cycle parks for no less than 3,700 bikes. There are also designated cycle paths for cycling to the stadium from any direction, as shown on this cycle path map.
Assuming, however, that you're not on a cycling tour or haven't hired a bike for the day, there are also buses, trams and light rail (S-Bahn) services to get you to the ground. And as at many German clubs, your match ticket is valid (from 5 hours before kick-off until the services stop running) for transportation to and from the ground within the entire Freiburg public transport region (on the local trains, in second class).
The best option is to use one of the tram (Stadtbahn) lines heading for the Messe (trade fair complex) and alighting at the 'Europa-Park Stadion' stop. From there it's a 10-minute walk to the ground itself.
If coming from the mainline railway station (Freiburg Hauptbahnhof), you can take an S-Bahn metro train and in 3 minutes be at the 'FR Messe / Universität' stop, from where the walk to the stadium also takes around 10 minutes.
All bus, tram and S-Bahn services in Freiburg come under the umbrella of the bwegt regional transport association, and you will find more information and a journey planner on the bwegt website.
Depending on the length of your planned stay in the city/Germany, it might be worth you getting a Deutschlandticket for unlimited use of local and regional public transport throughout the country.
For getting to the stadium straight from the airport, see my EuroAirport Basel Mulhouse Freiburg page (coming soon).
